Many times people have a faucet that doesn't have quite enough pressure, and their first thought is "I've got to put in a new faucet." Most of the time, the problem is right here on the end of the spout. It's a device called an aerator. Now, if you take that out, sometimes you can grab right hold of it and turn it. But if you can't, sometimes this will help. Take a wide rubber band, pull it tight around there. That gives you a little bit better grip. And if that doesn't work then you just take a rag and wrap around there and take a pair of pliers and grab hold. This way you're not going to scratch up the chrome or the gold or whatever it's made out of. And once you get it loosened, then you'll be able to go in there and remove them. Now take all the little parts here and put them in a bowl. And they usually pop right on out of there with a little force. Here we go. Then you put the parts inside here, and what you want to do is pour vinegar over the top of that. Be sure it's completely submerged in vinegar. And what happens is the vinegar will dissolve mineral deposits or what got the thing clogged up. How did that happen? Well, usually when somebody works on a faucet, even a brand new faucet, they cut the water supply off, and then when they cut it back on, the force of the water coming through there will pick up mineral deposits and push them up to some place, and where better to catch it than a place with a screen like this? If you'll get this thing whipped back into shape and put it back on the faucet, you'll have all the water pressure you'll need. |
