Fun Projects: Wall Shelf

This is a great project that can be easily made to any size you wish. If you want a bigger shelf, just keep evenly spacing more spindles as the shelf gets larger.

Tools

  • Drill
  • Drill bits: 1/4" & 1/8"
  • Screw bits
  • Glue
  • Hand saw
  • Sabre saw
  • Hammer
  • Safety goggles

Materials

  • 1 - board cut to 3/4"H x 5 1/5"W x 24"L
  • 10 - spindles
  • Metal hinges
  • Screws
  • Nails

STEP 1
From the 24" board, make the following cuts:
- 1 at 9.5"
- 1 at 8"
- 1 at 4.5"

STEP 2
From the 8" board, make the following cuts:
- 1 at 3/4" x 8"
- 2 at 3/4" x 5.5"

 

STEP 3
From the 4.5" board, make the brackets for the shelf.

TIP: Use the first bracket as a template for the second to keep them identical.

 

STEP 4
Bore the spindle holes into the 9.5" board as shown below.
