NOTE: Fluorescent bulbs use about 25% of the energy that an incandescent bulb uses.

You can purchase a light kit at almost any home improvement or hardware store.

Step-by-Step

1. Start by popping the metal plugs out of the precut holes where hangers are attached.
2. Next, position the sockets that will hold the fluorescent bulbs in place.
3. An end cap finishes off each side. Just tap it into place with a hammer.
4. Push the wiring down into the casing and put the cover over it. The cover secured with a fastener at each end.

Tip: You can buy a light socket adapter so that you don't have to run any power to the fixture. Just attach the adapter to the end of the power cord and screw it into the light socket when you are ready to mount it. This will also allow you to use the light switch on the wall to turn the light on and off.

5. Fit the two hangers into the precut holes.
6. On the ceiling, find a stud. Drill two holes and screw molly bolts into each hole. Then, hang a hook from each one.
7. Screw the adapter into the original light socket and then plug in the power cord.
8. Snap the two fluorescent bulbs into place.
9. Leave the chain in the on position and then you can control it from the wall switch from now on.

#2 - Insulating Your Garage Door

To make the garage more quiet and much more pleasant in the winter and summer, you can insulate the garage door very easily.

Materials

1. Foam core board
2. Tape measure
3. Box knife
4. Straight edge

Step-by-Step

1. First, measure the panels on the garage door. Mark that measurement on the foam and cut it using a box knife and straight edge. Push or slide the foam panel into each garage door panel. Just keep cutting and adding panels until the entire door is insulated.

NOTE: Foam core comes in 4'x8' sheets. Each sheet only costs around $5, so believe it or not, you can insulate an entire garage door for about $15.
