Al Carrell: Now this is the way brass ought to look - nice, bright and shiny. Let me show you how we got it to that state. You know, I think the postman really gets his feelings hurt if we don't have a nice shiny looking brass mailbox out there. I've got a formula I think you're gonna like. It's real easy to make and it does a good job of polishing brass and copper. First of all, you start with a half a cup of hot water. That's gonna help dissolve everything. Then you add a half a cup of flour - just any kind of flour that you have, a half a cup of detergent - and you can use any kind of detergent, and then we need three-quarters of a cup of vinegar and that would be a half plus a quarter. Now the next thing you're gonna throw in there is about a third of a cup of lemon juice. Now I'm not gonna squeeze the lemon juice. It's a lot easier this way. Now, of course you've got to mix this stuff up. And after you get it all mixed up, all you need to do is to just take a rag and dip in here and cover the surface. Actually, it's really better to mix it in a fruit jar because you can shake it up, but this way is gonna work out just fine. Now you have to leave this on here for about 15 minutes and then you come back with a dry cloth and you start rubbing. |
