Batteries

Al Carrell: How many times have you seen those three little words, "Batteries not included"? We have a lot of things around our house that run by batteries, and when the batteries run down, we usually have to throw them away. Of course, you can buy rechargeable batteries and a charger that will charge them back up. But now, there's a new thing. It's called a battery manager, and it will take just regular batteries and charge them up. It'll take four different sizes - AA, AAA, C and D size batteries.

Now the device has a little screen down here to tell you the status of all the different batteries. This one right here covers this battery and has a check mark up there which means that the battery is fully charged. The next one is this D battery and the one on the end is this D battery, and they're both in the process of being charged. I took them out of the flashlight last night, put them in here, and they're going up nicely. The other one down here refers to this battery, and it's got a "X" mark up there. That means that even though it has taken a charge it will not hold the charge, and so we might as well throw that one away. We're going to find out if it works. Take these two out, put it in the flashlight and see just how well this thing works. It is a way for you to save money because batteries do cost money, and if you get some extra life out of them, even though it may not last forever and you can't recharge them forever, it's going to be a saver. Let's see if we've got light. Let there be light!
