#1: More about Simonton Exterior Doors

Exterior, or "Patio" doors can make a huge difference in the look and feel of a home. These doors act as the gateway from the interior of the home to the outdoor relaxation areas, like swimming pools and courtyards.

We’ve installed ten exterior doors in the Project House—nine in-swing, center hinge "garden doors" and one French door, All from Simonton Windows®.

All the doors are vinyl doors using double pane Low-E softcoat tempered glass, meeting ENERGY STAR® program guidelines for energy efficiency.

These doors are 40% more energy efficient than products that are manufactured to meet common building code guidelines. The vinyl in our Simonton doors is premium extruded vinyl that will never peel, chalk or pit.

The doors all have fusion welded frames and sash to prevent air infiltration and leakage, with a 15-degree sloped sill/internal weeping system that forces water away from the door.

The hinge system on our Simonton doors is truly amazing. It’s a full-length continuous aluminum gear hinge that allows for ease of operation and acts as an extraordinary block to air infiltration.

Simonton Garden Doors are available in 5068 and 6068 sizes and include standard multi-point brass exterior lock handles, in addition to the hidden aluminum hinges previously mentioned.

These doors are available in white or tan with coordinating matching colonial flat or sculptured grids—brass grids are offered as options.
