In this year's Project House kitchen we've taken great pains to create a cooking environment that lends itself to the needs of a large family. We designed the kitchen to be open, with plenty of room for all the people who tend to cluster in the kitchen whenever the family is entertaining.

Jenn-Air Dishwasher A huge trend in kitchen design today is to merge the professional cooking environment with the home environment, and that's exactly what we've done with the appliances in the Project House.

Stainless steel, commercial-style kitchen appliances, like the Jenn-Air appliances we've installed in the Project House can make the cook feel like a professional and can add a contemporary touch that's stylish and fun. Most important, stainless steel cook tops and appliances are high quality and extremely durable. Plus, professional-grade appliances can easily accommodate the gourmet and international recipes and cooking techniques that are becoming increasingly popular with each passing year.

JENN-AIR APPLIANCES IN THE PROJECT HOUSE

Pro-Style 48" Gas Cooktop with Downdraft

Jenn-Air Cooktop The centerpiece of the Project House kitchen is the island-mounted Jenn-Air Prostyle 48" Gas cooktop with a built-in downdraft. The downdraft feature eliminates the need for a venting hood that would interfere with the open and airy feel of the kitchen. Furthermore, according to Jenn-Air, a downdraft vent is up to 90% more efficient than an overhead venting hood at eliminating the smoke and odors that are the inevitable by-products of range-top cooking. Because the downdraft is placed on the surface, just inches from the cooking source, the smoke and odors do not get a chance to rise up and be dispersed.

Another benefit of the downdraft feature is the lack of ear-level motor noise that so often accompanies operation of an over-the-range venting hood.

Jenn-Air Cooktop The cooktop itself has an innovative flush design that aligns cooking cartridges, controls and downdraft vents at the same height. The burners and grills are modular-easily removed for cleaning, plus they're interchangeable. Our unit comes standard with an E-ven Heat™ grill for outdoor-style grilling, plus two 2-burner modules with sealed burners. Because of the modular design one could purchase additional modules that would allow mixing and matching-more grilling modules and fewer burners, or vice-versa.

Prostyle 30" Double Wall Oven

On the wall behind the cook top, beside the refrigerator, is a Jenn-Air Prostyle 30" double wall oven. The stainless steel oven has a stylish, subtle curve on the frameless glass door, a clear glass window and a digital, all-glass touch-screen display.

Jenn-Air Oven The convection system is dual-speed , with a Convect Bake and Convect Roast mode, which gives better performance, because you can customize the convection rate to fit the cooking task at hand.

Another innovative feature of the oven is a built-in meat probe, which monitors the internal temperature of whatever meat you're cooking, and adjusts the oven accordingly when the meat reaches the proper temperature.

Jenn-Air Luxury™ Series Built-In Refrigerator

The stainless steel-48" built-in Side-By-Side refrigerator in our kitchen is loaded with striking features.

First, the refrigerator can be personalized on the inside and the outside. There are three exterior design options and two modular designs for the interior, giving the owner an unprecedented ability to decide how the refrigerator looks and performs.

Jenn-Air Refrigerator On the interior, there are many mix-and-match choices between tilt-down bins, Elevator™ shelves that move up and down with the crank of a handle, and A La Carte™ storage drawers that can be removed as a unit.

The temperature inside the refrigerator is controlled by an industry-exclusive Precision Temperature Management™ system that constantly monitors the temperature in the fresh and frozen food compartments, ensuring that the temperature in each compartment stays within one degree of the target temperature at all times.

Jenn-Air Refrigerator The storage drawers for produce, citrus fruit and meat are equipped with technology that sets optimum temperature conditions for different types of food for each individual drawer.

The refrigerator "figures out" what the family's use patterns are, and automatically defrosts the refrigerator at times of lowest usage.
